The most important reason to prepare is for the most ordinary of all disasters: loss of income. Happens all the time. Just racking up medical bills often drives families into bankruptcy. Being prepared with food and other supplies can, quite literally, buy TIME as available money is spent on rent, mortgage, utilities, gas.
